In Libraries
(Updated 10/13/21)
There is always something new to learn at your local Madison Public Library. A hub for making & learning, the Bubbler strives to create learning opportunities for all ages. Explore below to find a new opportunity for you in one of our spaces of programs, or read about past work on the Bubbler’s impact blog.
Bubbler Room
The Bubbler Room at Madison’s Central Library (ground floor) is a free studio space to explore art and making. After being closed for an extended time the Bubbler room will re-open on 10/18/21. It hosts partner workshops, houses our current artist-in-residence, and acts as an open art studio for anyone and everyone during open library hours! We encourage learners of all ages and abilities to come and explore the free supplies, equipment and expertise we have to offer.
Check out the Bubbler Calendar or stop by the Bubbler Room for a true Madison experience if you're in the downtown area! You may run into our Artist-in-Residence or find the perfect hands-on project just waiting for you!

Making & Learning for Kids
Are you looking for an awesome learning experience for the mini makers in your life? We’ve got you covered. Lead by our awesome in house librarians or community artists, Bubbler workshops happen at all 9 of our libraries across Madison.
To find the full list of programs, search our calendar by filtering for “bubbler” or check out MPL’s seasonal Kidspages publication and keep your eyes out for the Bubbler B to indicate making & learning events.
Library Maker Kit Database
Explore our library maker kits! Designed by previous Artists in Residence, summer interns, and our fabulous in house librarians, our maker kits are used for in house library programming.
Check out our calendar for Bubbler Maker programs for kids or explore a kit yourself for project ideas you can do at home or with your group of students.
Many of the kits in the database also include facilitation guide (like this one!) to share materials and instructions, but also best practices to invite open ended learning.
