APRIL-MAY- ARTWRITE COLLECTIVE

The Artwrite Collective uses art as a tool for social justice through creative youth development, activist art partnerhsips, and arts landscapes diversification. Through their Imaging Worlds residency through the Bubbler, ArtWrite artists Rhea Ewig, Mike L'roy, Jay Ludden, and Alaura Seidl will dream up and visualize healthy and just futures alongside library patrons. Through giant books, talking paintings, expressive food, and other experiments, they'll overtake the Bubbler with visions for what a thriving world might look, smell, taste, sound, and feel like.They'll need your help building their otherwordly installations.

April 17th: Imagine a World that is Responsive 2-4pm Bubbler Room/Central Library

Record your voice, thoughts, and experiences with Bubbler media lab equipment to create a “talking painting” and interactive installation

May 1st: Imagine a World that is Musical: Unwieldy Instruments 2-4pm Bubbler Room/Central Library

Use MakeyMakey Technology and found objects to create unusual instruments and experiments with sound. Families and all ages welcome.

May 8th: Imagine a world that is beautiful… and tasty! 2-4pm Bubbler Room/Central Library

Create beautiful large scale paper sculptures with the headlines from the day’s news. Blending traditional origami paper folding with large scale art. Wake up your senses with food art.

May 17th: Imagine a World that is Responsive (part 2) 6-8pm Bubbler Room/Central Library

Record your voice, thoughts, and experiences with Bubbler media lab equipment to create a “talking painting” and interactive installation. See the painting constructed in its nearly final form and add your own flare and reactions to the work.

May 22nd 2:30-4:30 Bubbler Room/Central Library

Closing Reception and interactive workshops.
