Emily Joy Balsley
is an illustrator and maker with a passion to create all of the things. She spends her days and nights hustling from project to project in her colorful studio in Madison, Wisconsin. Her freelance clients include American Girl, Mudpuppy, Highlights Magazine, and Storey Publishing; the UW Memorial Union, Food Fight Restaurants, and Madison Magazine. Whether drawing, painting, crafting, or working on DIY house projects, her ability to constantly move and create mesmerizes her yogi husband and inspires her creative daughter. When she isn’t making, she loves to ride her bike, box, and spend time with her family and friends.

Joy in All the Things describes Emily Balsley's state of euphoria while she explores a wide variety of projects, ideas, materials and creative endeavors. In her own world of making, no project or idea is beyond the scope of possibility if it inspires happiness. With All The Things Emily looks forward to working with her Bubbler residency to embrace our diverse community and help everyone find passion in creating. From the simplicity of making pom poms, to the hectic world of public art and murals, the refined skills of hand-lettering, to the whimsy of anthropomorphic illustrations ‘All the Things’ aspires to fill the Bubbler with joy in all pursuits!
