KIM CHARLES KAY will activate the Bubbler space as her studio for November and December. Come visit Kim, an interdisciplinary artist across many media, as she moves a variety of projects forward. She will be working on shaping the unspeakable into form, paintings for bodies, and a video for a century-overdue apology.

MEET THE ARTIST
Kim Charles Kay is an artist who can be found living and working in parts named and unnamed across the United States. As an interdisciplinary artist Kay’s practice involves installation, photography, sculpture, performance and painting with each medium informing the next. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Kay is interested in the artmaking and objecthood outside of Art History.

WORKSHOPS & OPEN STUDIO

  • Tools for ________ :  Many things about our world and our daily lives feel unspeakable or unresolvable. Please join artist Kim Charles Kay for an exercise in making and shaping objects that respond to the unspeakable. Using simple sculpture material, participants will be guided through a process to create individual sculptures that have a purpose only for the maker. Due to the nature of this workshop’s content and art-making materials, participants will need to register ahead of time. Individuals are encouraged to register for multiple Wednesday sessions.

  • Someone to Somebody Somewhere  Each participant will walk away with a personalized reminder of who they are, what and whom they love, and what that love means. All are welcome to drop in!!

Throughout the residency in the Bubbler Room

  • Story(ies) of Now  Join artist Kim Charles Kay in telling the story(ies) of now. Participants will form drawings, collage, and writings into small books and those books will be added into a larger book of now. Zine making and basic bookbinding will be covered in this family friendly workshop.
